Fresh features

Cateyes in black, blush and shimmer highlights, are my staples. I like to keep my makeup simple, natural and fresh. I believe in makeup’s ability to enhance, not hide your lovely God-given features. I also believe in sticking with your favorite products once you find them, and that quality doesn’t have to mean breaking your budget.

Eyeliner:  Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black (Walgreens, DuaneReade, Target)

Mascara: Maybelline New York The Colossal Volum’ Express in Glam Black (Walgreens, DuaneReade, Target)

Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown

Blush: Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush, in Sunset Glow

Shimmer Highlights (on cheekbones): Victoria Secret (Very Sexy) Loose Shimmer Powder in Show and Tell. | I bought this 12 years ago, so I believe it’s safe to say they don’t carry it any longer lol.

Lipstain: BlackMoon Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Sanguis

Tinted Sunscreen/Moisturizer:

  • Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew, Miracle Skin Perfector in Deep. | The color is great for spot correcting. I don’t wear foundation and I don’t cover my entire face with anything except for  moisturizer (with or without tint). This product is simply for cover up and sunscreen (SPF 20). It did not diminish my acne scars.
  • Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream in 560/Deep. | I use this for spot correcting also. It works well for me to cover a portion of my cheeks where my acne scars are still fading.

Shine Control Powder: Mac Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder. | I use this to dust my t-zone which is prone to shine.

Acne scar diminishing proudcts:

*It’s important to use both products together to speed up the fading process

Due to Paraguard (“natural” birth control), at age 29, I developed intense adult acne and had to take medication in order to cure it. One year of suffering left my skin with numerous acne scars.

I wanted to heal my skin rather than cover it up, because I like to wear as minimal makeup as possible. Also, I love having a clear, bare face! It took about 2-3 months to fade my scars completely. New blemishes appear, heal and scar, so I routinely use the OLE Henriksen products to keep my face as fresh as possible. The product works wonderfully and they’re all natural, which is important to me.  Although Caudalie works, I’m unwilling to pay $80 for face serum. For my skin, the results were comparable to the outcome of using Ole Henriksen’s products.

When using the smoothie oil it took about a month for my scars to fade. Finding the right amount of oil is key, or you may cause a breakout. I use about a dime size amount. I really love the smell and feel of the oil on my face, and it moisturizes well, especially in drier months. Plus, hooray for all natural ingredients and supporting small, eco-responsible businesses!

All but the face smoothie oil products can be purchased at Sephora. I only use Caudalie when I’m able to get the sample size using VIB (Beauty Insider) points or redeeming a birthday gift.
