Power

The word,

It still holds power.

I try it out on my lips,

It makes me flinch.

It plays unwanted scenes before my mind.

I force the word out,

offended by its existence.

It’s casually spoken to devalue it,

but internally I’m wincing.

It still holds power—

But I can chip away at it.

.

.

.

Rape.
