Monochromatic Play

My boyfriend, Ben, introduced me to color-blocking. Bless him!

Color-blocking is when a person wears “blocks” of color in contrasting bright shades.

I immediately fell in love with this style, and put my personal twist on it.

Funnily enough, I mistook color-blocking to mean wearing the same color or shade, which it is not, but now I’m hooked on getting my monochromatic on! The boldness, creativity, and playfulness behind this style is right up my alley.

I have a lot fun searching through my clothes, shoes, accessories and makeup, looking for items within the same color family. And when I wear all pink (my favorite color), I’m elated, feelin’ like a chocolate barbie. Screen Shot 2018-01-21 at 7.22.03 PM

Have fun, take risks! Fashion is all about fun & self-expression.

I dress based on the mood/persona I want to project for the day:

  • Edgy
  • Playful
  • Tomboy
  • Office professional
  • Sexy
  • Causal Chic
  • Street
  • Natural/ethnic
  • Celebrity inspired
  • Era inspired

And I ask myself vital questions about my day:

  • What is the weather like
  • How much walking do I have to do

I often have themes in my mind, or am influenced by something within my wardrobe.

In the below image I’m wearing three different colors all with a theme behind them:

  • Hot pink –> Barbie “Pinky Lee”
  • Superman Blue –> Warrior Princess
  • Red –>Playful (a flirty picnic-date look)

The dresses were also a playful way to celebrate the heatwave we got that week; a dress each day.

Although people may make comments or stare, remember it’s not about anyone but you and your creativity! You are fabulous!

Most people are delighted by color-blocking, because it’s fun and projects that, so be bold, be you, and ignore the haters intimidated by your confidence. *insert hair flip*
